When working in Tucson several years ago, I drove over to the aviation graveyard. It's a stunning, even sobering sight.

There is a great aviation museum nearby. That is where I got to touch a SR-71 Blackbird... and visit a Constellation.

And when in Dayton, Ohio next time I plan on visiting the Air Force museum:

Also, near Dulles Airport in Virginia the Smithsonian air collection is worth the visit:

I was at DM, in Tucson in 1996. I was part of a USAF special recovery team who was tasked with recovering engines off of A10 aircraft that were sent to AMARC after the Gulf war. I got to see a lot of cool stuff in there! Got to watch a B52 get cut up as well

I also visited nearby Pima Air Museum, as well as the Chaplain Fighter Museum. Great stuff!

I grew up near Dayton and went frequently. In fact I went so much (and was so interested in military aviation) that I would beat tour guides to the punch on later visits.

If any of y'all see an old Crusader there, give it a nudge for me. It might even be one I used to fly.
