OT: Looking for ORIGINAL M-1 Carbine
Am looking for an original in minty condition for a friend; doesn't have to be anything special, just original without import markings, exc-minty condition.
Anybody know of one FS? TIA Tom |

Re: OT: Looking for ORIGINAL M-1 Carbine
Tom,
Original M1 Carbines are quite scarce. After WWII there was a huge program to rebuild and update all the M1 Carbines in government inventory. The original carbine did not have a bayonet lug until very late in the war, the original safety was a push button which was changed to flip safety, and the adjustable sight came out late in 1944. All the M1 Carbines had these modifications performed during the rebuild program. I know where there is a collection of around 50 M1 Carbines that the owner has been making noises about selling. Will be glad to let you know about these if they actually do come up for sale. |
