Point of Aim with 6" barrel
Guys
I'm going to try and get around this stupid 120mm minimum barrel length requirement that is going to be imposed upon us down here. Fortunately the Luger lends itself very well to this. However, if I remove the current 4" barrel and screw a 6" barrel into my P08 without changing the rear sight i.e. leave the original non adjustable sight in place, will the gun still shoot to point of aim without any major mods? Thanks |

I may be wrong but it seems to me it will shoot a little high with the 6" since the bullet is taking longer to leave the barrel as the barrel rises under recoil. If I'm correct the fix would either be a taller front sight or lighter bullets or a combination of both.
Good luck. Jim

A 6" bbl will require a higher front sight. You can order a "blank" Mauser front sight from Brownells for around $15 US. It will fit the Luger dovetail and has an extra high square profile so that it can be filed to the correct height and shape. That is what I use in my 6" bbl conversions. <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" />
