Weimar 1920/1911 Erfurt Question

Picked up interesting double date in a hardshell P=38 holster. SN 7208 o. Has Erfurt toggle and upper and I believe a later post 1914 lower frame. Barrel SN was xxxx out and restamped with 7208 just above it. Safety bar and sear bar #'s overstamped with 08. Matching 7208 wood bottom mag with imperial crown proof. There is a stock lug so frame is not 1911 erfurt even though it is SN to rest of gun.Crown RC stamp on toggle,scriptic crown G on sideplate,rear toggle, and right side upper. Crown RC also on front of trigger guard. Weimar pieces are difficult for me to classify, was this issued to the Freikorps? The P38 hardshell it came to me in leads me to believe it continued into Third Reich service. How many WWI Erfurts and DWMs were reworked and carried over to Weimar service? How many of these continued into Third Reich service? Has there been any documented research by anyone on this subject?

Duane (and I "thumbed" your picture, anyone can just click on it to get it bigger), Jan Stills Weimar Lugers has a lot of information, I don't have time right now, but will write some mroe info tomorrow if no one else has time, but a quick answer is yes, there have been educated guesses on production numbers, how many were reused, approx., how many used for police from Imperial guns, etc.

When posting a picture you would need to place these words or click on the img button [img]your http[/img] and if it is a larger picture, you can put [thumb]your picture http[/thumb] and it will show as smaller, yet still display larger if someone clicks on it. HOWEVER, if you go back to change some mistake you made, then it will come out all gobblygook, and you either have to change it manually or live with it all messed up.

new at this. Is a double date 1916-1920 dwm worth more or less than a singel date

depends on many factors. "Double date, which is actually the 1920 is usually the number seen as the 2nd number is a werhmacht property mark, and every now and then you see a true "double date".

So, to many collectors, a double date is a weimar gun, and I think they are worth a bit less than a WW1 or WW2 (Nazi) marked guns, but I collect the Weimar Police, and the amount is usually just a bit less than others, but everything depends on condition, condition, and whether it is original or not.
