Default .30 or 9mm

Hi folks,

Have another subjective question.

Which is smoother to shoot? 9mm or .30? Or is there any difference at all. I know the .30 is a bit more expensive. Trying to figure out if I should put a .30 commercial on my list.. behind the navy, the nazi, and maybe an imperial for good measure.

I have a c-96 shooter in 7.63 mauser and it is loud as the dickens. C96 isn't all that comfortable to shoot.

P.S. Remember and honor the fallen. I have been lucky. Most of my family made it through WWII, two grandfather's 1 in the pacific, 1 in Europe came home. Great uncle was a fireman on the USS Bonefish still at the bottom of Toyama bay.

Hi and welcome.

The .30 luger is a sweet and easy shooting cartridge, nothing like the .30 Mauser.
Like comparing a .38 special and a .357 magnum!

By all means put one on your list; you are correct about ammo being more expensive and somewhat more difficult to find. But the shooting experience is worth it, after all- the .30 luger or 7,65mm is where the Luger journey started.

I do doubt you will be able to stop at the four you have mentioned.

Brien

In my opnon it depends if you shoot your own reloads or not.
I agree that shooting the .30 Luger can be a nice exerience, but if you're aim is to shoot a lot I would pick up the 9mm.

I agree with the above, however, I have picked up 7.65mm (30 luger) on several occasions for about 15 bucks a box. In the last two years, so its not like I am remembering 15 years ago...

But 9mm is easily found for half the price....

Put a Swiss Luger on your bucket list. They are 7.65mm Luger caliber and exceptionally well made pistols.

The Swiss are target shooting competitors at heart. They waited 40 years before going to the Sig P210 in 9mm.

I agree with Marc, a good Swiss W+F 1906/29 surely won't be difficult to find at a reasonable price.

The recoil impulse of the 7.65 P(30 Luger)is less than the 9mm cartridge due to a lighter bullet and a lower powder charge. I, personally, really enjoy shooting the 30 Luger round, and they hold accurate out for quite some distance. I think any Luger shooter should have at least one 30 Luger gun just because......to be complete. The 7.65P brass is not an overly difficult item to reload.
