Default "S" mark under grip

I just received a byf 42 Luger and have been inspecting it. I found this "S" stamped under the left grip and was wondering what it stood for.

BYF 42 "H" block has an "8" stamped there. Probably a worker accountability identification mark.

I am used to seeing these worker marks on weimar guns, I think of them as working and rework markings, just more history to the gun.

And must be on many era's of lugers.
