Photo of captured Military Lugers
This photo was used as background illustration for an eBay ad selling a WW2 P-38 lanyard because the same type of lanyard is shown in the photo... but I thought it is a great photo and thought you would all like to see it. (see enlarged and enhanced photo further down in this message thread)
Wish those boxes of Lugers and P-38's were in my basement!

That is an amazing picture John.
I have seen a few other photos of this kind of thing, really something. Anyone have "real" photos like this they are getting rid of? Ed

John,
You ought to be whipped for showing a picture like that. I will probably have dreams tonight wishing I could luck up on something like that, maybe in one of those Estate Attics! Don't we wish. Can you improve on the resolution so we might read some of the dates and toggle codes? Of course just kidding but already started dreaming! Thanks, Add On: John, did you notice the luger in his left hand is a 6 or 8 incher? That's interesting! Another Add On: John, it makes me wonder where the second matching magazines are at for all those lugers! Maybe that explains why I pick up many more lugers with one matching mag instead of two! Final Add On: John, I just can't quit looking at that picture, there is so much there!

If that guy had a red suit and a white beard, I'd say it was Santa Claus stuffing stockings for Christmas.
Wonder if those were on the way to the smelter? |

Anyone notice that all the Lugers have magazines in them?
Do you remember the speculation on this board that the reason for so few matching mags is that the Lugers were stockpiled separately from their magazines. Well, at least in the case of this photo, they weren't separated. John, Thanks for the photo. Can you guess what my new computer "wallpaper" is going to be? |

Maybe this is how folks like Shattuck and Simpson and Smith got started...
Does sort of look like a young Ralph... Pete... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> |

The photo "shows a U.S Army PFC counting captured hand guns in a arsenal in Norway imediately after the war."
This was quoted from the auction. Here is the best I could do with a quality improvement and enlargement of the photo I downloaded. I would suggest that the bulk of these pistols would eventually be issued to liberated allies like Norway for use by their un-equipped military and police... until replaced by something more modern years later... The subsequent sale of these "surplus" pistols are where most all of the imported Lugers came from that were not direct bring-back war souveniers...
