Default Numbered 06/24 Bern Magazines

Have been able to pick up a few numbered magazines for the 06/24 Bern Luger... Here are some photos to show the shape of the wood along the bottom that is typical Bern and the placement and font-size of the numbers.

It is not clear when the numbers were added...i.e. originally at the factory or later when a Luger was refurbished or by a local Swiss gunsmith or private Owner...

Nice mags Pete. I know it may be easier for you to type "06/24 Bern" rather than "06 W+F " or "06 W+F Bern", and you have explained that before, but doggone it there ain't no such thing as 06/24 Bern. The Swiss began making their own Lugers in 1918 not 1924. I hate to be a pain in the neck about such a picky thing, but the new folks need to learn the proper nomenclature rather than perpetuating a myth that was created in the '50s when we didn't know any better.

Thanks for the excellent photos that show the pronounced step for the knobs that is typical of a Swiss produced wooden magazine base.

Yep...Ron...just lazy when I type.

I will give up the '24 Bern thing when others give up "Black Widow"...

BTW...I do own another Bern Luger that is actually made in 1924...so I guess I can alway call that one my '24 Bern...

"Black Widow" is advertising hype, "06/24 Bern" is just plain wrong.

Pete, you can't get away with it, not when I was being lazy and said "Simson Suhl" and you corrected me to Simson & Co, Suhl

that said, nice mag display, can you add more and we'll make it a sticky as examples?

Ed...

IIRC...I think I corrected you when you typed "Simpson & Suhl"... That Jessica Simpson's family goes back a long way...
