If this concept is is in the "Wright Bros." stage, which it certainly could be, how long before a copy of a Luger will be 3d printed using the proper material? The first three videos in this link were cancelled but if interested scroll down to the fourth one and it shows the 3d printed pistol being fired.

Receiver, barrel and bolt need certain weight so the recoil operated principle can work properly, those will still have to be kept in steel regardless manufacturing process, but modern technology should be able to cast (or 3d print) most complex frame/lock frame in black plastics.

Not viable for now. The government is freaking out about this but they forget that 3-D printers cost thousands of $$, and a new Glock or Springfield or whatever is $600. Maybe someday, but as alvin said, barrel & bolt have to be steel (or some other heavy metal) especially for rapid fire.

Poke the casing out with a stick? (ROFLOL) How long will the plastic rifling last - 3 shots?

There are a "few groups" of folks that have more than enough spare money to purchase one of these printers if they will produce a good product......no serial #, non traceable!!

The technology is coming. Where it still falls short is in the development of pliable compounds, which will be as strong as steel when finished.
