"R.J.R 10. 233" marked 1916

I found this 1916 marked "R.J.R 10. 233" on egun.de and was just wandering what the R.J.R meant. Sorry I can't give serial numbers, the picture was not clear enough.

Reserve Infantry Regiment. "J" is for "Jaeger" or "hunter" in English.

Hallo Landsmann,
das Reserve Infanterie Regiment 10 bestand schon seit der Mobilmachung und gehörte der 21. bzw. 23 Infanterie Brigade und somit der 11. Reserve Division an.
Es war an der Westfront, insbesondere in Verdun und an der Somme eingesetzt.
Eine Regimentsgeschichte würde sicher einige interessante Zusammenhänge aufzeigen.
Ist weiteres Zubehör, wie z. B. eine passende Tasche vorhanden?
Die Waffennummer 233 ist etwas unverständlich. Eine so hohe Nummer in einem Regiment ist nicht zu erklären. Reitende Batterien eines Feld Artillerie Regiments hatten bis zu 135 08 Pistolen. Ich kenne keine Einheit, und schon gar keine Reserve Einheit, die so großzügig ausgestattet war.

Although the 233 weapon number seems high, could it be that the property numbers were shared and included weapons other than Lugers. e.g. rifles and other types of pistols?

Possibly a provisional unit mark (no Company designation), and the armorer mis-understood the marking order adding the weapon numbers sequentially for the entire Regt.

Noll's lists weapon numbers into the 200,s , mostly for Reserve Regiments.

Ron,
all was possible in the Great War.
The unit markings on the Lugers were stuck by the weapon master of the regiment and it was not allowed in 1916 to stamp the guns with a unit mark. We can read at the 30. December 1916 in the "Armee Verordnungsblatt" that it was even not more allowed to stamp the holsters and all other equipment with the unit marks.

Thanks all for the help. Like I had said I had seen this on an auction site and was wandering what the marks meant but the buy it now price of 450 euro was too much for the condition.
