So, these are assembly line gauges; not something a field armorer would have...My mistake...

I was thinking these would be used to correct for sighting deficiencies...I know there were at least 3 different height front sights (from the CD blueprint); I was thinking if a Luger shot too low/high, you would measure the height of the sight and go to the next higher/lower...

...But I couldn't figure out the rear sight gauge...

Since the gauge has "WaA", I would assume it's used by Army Inspector for gun acceptance. He's supposed having a bunch of gauges to measure key parameters (headspace, sight height, etc) before his Eagle over something seal could be stamped on the gun.

Make sense?

Default Gauges

Mauro,

Thank you for correcting me, a lesson in hurried postings... again. With the examples of similar tools in my collection I have assumed the gauges use. "I throw myself under the bus on that one."

Regards,

Robert

I have two "factory" gauges for posting should we need to see how those gauges were marked.

Hello Alvin,
Concerning the manual, it is only a list of all gauges for all the weapons in service in 1937. It is associating the number (each gauge has a different id number stamped on it) with the related weapon and the gauge use. You can see this in my web site; in the pictures, each gauge is placed on the manual page describing it. You can read the gauge number and on the page you can see the information I just mentioned.

Hope this helps.
Have fun,
Mauro
