Default Found two luger magazines in my shed! I'd love some help identifying them.

So like the title says, While I was cleaning the shed I found some Luger magazines in a drawer. I'd love some help identifying them and setting a price point. I am interested in selling them simply because I don't have a gun to go with them.

Here's some pics

I've never seen one with an eagle with a swastika on it. Im pretty sure the brass colored one is a wwI version while the silver colored one is a WWII police issue?

Both have the same numbers. I wonder if the nazis re-purposed it for the police to use?

Any help would be great!

#1 and #2 mag for police luger ser# 7039. Top tube apears to be an Erfurt tube with replaced/ renumbered bottom. Lower is a Haenel manufactured E/L (police) marked tube.
I hope the owner of police luger 7039 sees this, as I am sure he would buy them.
Some better pics of them would be needed to confirm condition, and verify top mag is reworked. John

Great,
you found a couple 100 $ worth of matching magazines- do tell the rest of the story.

Wonder where the pistol is/was???

From time to time someone turns out saying oh look what I've found in my shed, or in a hidden shelf of my new house... lucky people, I've never found anything like that in my shed, apart from old cobwebs...
Anyway jokes apart, nice findings!

Here's the story:
My grandfather used to do reloading and gun cleaning in his shed back in the 70s.

He had a friend who sent his Luger P08 in to get cleaned. I guess part of the payment was 2 magazines? Not sure. Maybe he just lost them.

Anyway, forward to today, I'm cleaning out the shed for him and I find 2 Luger P08 mags in one of the drawers. I show them to him and he tells me the story. Then he ends with "I hate 9mm guns, keep em."

And that's how I got them

Oh, and sorry for the lousy pics. I'll try to take better ones.

I would love to own one! Unfortunately, I'm in a bit of debt right now so i need to sell them.

I put them up for sale on ebay for a higher price to see if someone bites.

Woah guys, calm down. I doubt they'll even sell at that price. Like I said, it was just to test the waters. I put them up for 400$ which seems high to me. No one here gave me a value to go on. If I were to have a correct, current market value I'd much rather sell them here slightly under current market value than ebay. I'll take the listing down then post the mags here first.

It appears that the opening bid on eBay is $300. For the pair.

Justin, You took the ebay listing off? Now it will be really hard to find~ Look, in my opinion you are doing nothing wrong here or on ebay. These are two matching police magazines. IF the owner of the matching pistol sees them..A BIG IF but it's possible..he would hit the buy it now button and not look back. It's a shot at retail. Could happen. The problem with ebay Is they snag right at 20% right off the top. Bad but Ebay has a big audience. So just do your thing. No worries here.

Don, That's kinda harsh! Yes, greed strikes again, come here for info and then sell on ebay! Justin didn't even get much info IMO. We all want what our stuff is worth. Sometimes we get it sometimes we don't but nothing wrong with trying?

Thanks for the kind words!

EBay and PayPal take 13% off the top. Not terrible considering the range of traffic that is there.

Here is the listing I just posted on this forum.
http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=35413

Don, what would you have me do? Give my property away for free? I have 4K of debt to pay off and I'm working for a debt free lifestyle. If you have a better solution I'm all ears.

Here's what I'll do. I'll list it both on eBay and on here. But I'll take 13% off my eBay price for here.

Yes, I'm harsh, just call 'em like I see them.

Some of us don't give prices anymore, nobody likes them, they are either too high or too low, and never right, I'm either an idiot if too high, and trying to steal them if too low.

Besides, there really is no answer- depends on too many factors on any given day.

What to do- well maybe for one- give it a little more than 24 hours before deciding what they are worth.

Look at the wts ads here and see what mags have sold for. Look on ebay closed auctions and see what mags have sold for.

Put them on the trader here for $1000 or what ever number you like and ask for best offers.

Lots of ways to do it.

We all have debts and bills, so that is not a reason to me; but being debt free is a very admirable goal.

Your last statement makes sense. Folks here didn't get their "education" for free; though i don't see exactly how you could accomplish it.

Don, Without getting into a pissing match..I hesitate to "flame" people who come on here to sell. Eventually a fair price can be determined.. some of the ways you mention are good ones. Regardless..Any pricing opinions are open to some criticism high or low..OK. Agreed but they are just opinions. I price a lot of stuff I see low cause I don't have an interest or want it. If I have an interest and still don't want it, my estimate might be more. All of us like to buy low and sell high. But my main thought is to remain kind and respectful to newbies with stuff to sell. Just a thought.

Let's go over these two mags again just for fun. In the condition they are in..I would want to buy them for $100 each. Cleaned up properly someone who wants them to put with a Police rig might pay $150 each. Asking $400 is certainly not out of the realm of reality as someone may really want two matching police mags. Or even WAY more if the owner of this pistol sees them. That's my opinion so Justin is more or less right on the money IMO. So torching the guy seems harsh like I said. Like you, I just call 'em like I see em.

I was finding no fault with his pricing; his stuff- he can ask any price.

In fact I read his for sale post just now and it is quite well done and spot on.

Perhaps I over reacted to another first time poster seeking info and then vamoosing to auction his goods.

ziconceo just happend to be the most recent and was the recipient of
my soap box speech.

Some may have mis-interpreted "greed" as bad; greed is good, it is what keeps humans alive according to some philosophers.

Was not a flame, just an observation, my apologies to the poster.

Here endeth the soap for the day.

NOW THAT EVERYONE IS DONE MOANING AND GROANING OVER LITTLE THINGS
I am not sure I like the bases. would love 3 or 4 pictures of each; that said, I would not kick them out of my house

I think on best pictures, low of $125 each - max of $150 each (both being bought) - the eagle L (nazi) marking is worth the most - however, it appears the bases were sanded at one time (perhaps cleaned up years ago) - thus better pictures from a few angles.

$300 combined is not unreasonable - I mostly got away from collecting all things police, but 2 mags the same, from slightly two eras (one early Weimar, one Nazi era)
