I recently acquired what I believe to be a Luger pistol Cleaning rod Barrel guide - designed to prevent the cleaning rod being mis-angled causing wear and abrasion to the barrel-end and bore /lands. The connector is Banner marked MAUSER. Can anyone shed more light on this accessory?

I guess that could be what it is, but seems like a dumb idea...by the time you screw the thing on, you could have taken the barrel extension off and cleaned the bore from the chamber end, like it should be.

This is just a fancy barrel extension. There is a guy making them for the P-08 and selling them on Ebay. It has no specific function and he started to make them for P-38s also. It is similar to the fitting for a Luger silencer, but has no threads. It could be made into a silencer adapter with some machining and threads, but is really just a way to jazz up a Luger. I hadn't noticed the Mauser stamp, but suspect he bought a new die to increase sales of these fittings.
