Default MecGar magazines

I recently picked up the stainless mag off of ebay. I believe it to be a MecGar mag because of it's constructiion. Has anyone come across any MecGar mags like this stainless with a wood base? The top mag pic 1 is a MecGar and is so marked, the bottom a 70's era Mauser(Holland marked).

yes that is my recollection - also that many were not marked

I like the earlier ones in stainless or nickle the best (I think its stainless)

Both the wood base and the concentric-circle base are crappy fits in the tube. I doubt if Mec-Gar or the 'Holland' bases are OEM.

The other base looks like a dished plastic Mec-Gar base. Several members here use a ball-end mill to dish out the OEM Mec-Gar base. It can be done without removal.

Steve, Your made in Holland marked mag is correct with the "dished in" black plastic bottom. Your center mag is probably an earlier nickel plated Mecgar with an added wood bottom. GT on this forum, offers this service to replace the original mag spring with his improved type and add one of his wood bottoms in place of the original plastic one. TH
