Default Luger shooting funky, help please?

Was shooting my Luger tonight, and it kept wanting to go on full-auto by accident. Well, not really, but it was doing some double-shots on one trigger pull. Like, bang-bang really fast....

Is the firing pin hanging up off the first shot, or what is the deal? Anyone else have this problem and a solution? I don't want to have it accidently unload a whole magazine, that would be scary.... the 2 at once was bad enough.

lemme know,

the first time was shots: 4 & 5 (out of 5 shots)

2nd time was shots: 3 & 4 (out of 5)

ammo is S&B 9mm

thanks!

Quite often have lugers got their triggerpull adjusted by some d...head that don't know how it should be done.

And in order to minimize creep and weight in the triggerpull they have often grinded of the firing pin and or the sear.

This is ofcourse the absolutetly wrong way to adjust the engagement but it was a common way of doing this.

If that method is used there is very little engament left when the sear should catch the firing pin so the sear looses it's grip of the firing pin.

Only way of correcting this is either to install new parts, or to weld up the old parts with a welding wire that is hardend.

The problem could also be to weak searspring but I doubt that.

Only way of seirusly determine if the parts is grinded off is to measeure them up and compere them to the original drawings.

Another d... head way of achieving the same result is if you bend the upper-front part of the trigger in order to decrease the trigger travel. DON´T DO IT - I did - with quite astonishing results. ... best left to a Luger gunsmith who knows what he´s doing. Patrick

Patrick ,that is actually the method I normally use to adjust the triggerpull.

It works great to me.

Now I know I should have fired it! Doks gun did that too when I got it. I checked the firing pin/sear on his and it looked good. His gun the only thing that was needed to a stronger sear spring. I didnt dink with any attempts to adjust anything on it! Check the sear spring strength first and look at the firing pin/sear bar interface and see if it appears like the edges are sharpt and square. If the spring seems weak send it back to me and I will fix it! If you want you can ship the gun back to me and I will range test and fix it for you, my work is guaranteed. Let me know what you want to do! Thor

Also if the trigger return spring has been lightened, it allows the trigger to remain back far enough that the shooter inadvertently pulls the trigger a second time as the pistol starts back down from recoil. This in conjunction with other trigger modifications makes for a dangerous situation.

Hakan, I´m glad I was on the right track - but I´d rather leave to a fully trained gunsmith who knows what he´s doing from now on. I´d still like to know what went wrong. Patrick

Default Drawings patrick............

Patrick you must compere the sear and firing pin measurements to the drawings.

That is the only way to find out if some d,,,head have been kind enough to adjust it.

Many sears and firingpins looks great and still have been altered, and without welding or replacement that can never be a safe gun.
