1906 Navy for sale from Simpson's

I saw a 1906 Navy come up for sale at Simpson's. Looks like an honest Navy #2693 no suffix. It is not on Norm's list Didn't say if internal #'s match. I noticed that the Navy proof on the barrel was overlayed on the serial #, is that something that happened on occasion? I would think the German's would be a little neater. Anyway, thoughts?

I do not know Navies, however, I have seen police that were commercial with the serial number stamped over the Crown N

I didn't see that one (#2693).
D16517 is S/N 2793 and listed for $5,750
They say it has good rifling and some oxidation (whew, glad it wasn't rusted).
It has a grip strap marking "WD 579" which they say is Danzig Dockyard.

It looks nice, but no mention of matching parts internally.
You should ask.
I would expect they are, though.
Simpson's has a stellar reputation and an impressive inventory.

They are on my Bucket list for a personal visit one day.

If you go to Simpson's shop, know that only 2 people allowed in the door at a time. They are like other stores that are way behind in the covid issue.

Speaking as a member of a high risk group (I'm 83), I'd rather visit a store that's "behind the times" than one that's cutting edge.

On the Simpsons navy what can be done about a "poor bore"? A new barrel comes to mind, but what's the cost on something like that? It is already not a primo collectible, so would replacing the barrel be a crime against humanity?

Shame on you Patrick! 1906 Navy #2793 is a very desirable and collectible gun. If you want to shoot a Navy Luger find yourself a mis-matched one, there are enough of them out there.

Replacing the barrel would actually detract from it collectibility wise and value wise. Both would go down.

I was looking at Smpson inventory # C49806 , serial number 4928, listed as having a poor bore. A poor bore makes it non-shootable, and I was looking to make it a shooter for an article or three.
