help to identify my p08
Hi All,
I have a question for all of you experts on Luger I believe that it is a 1908 Commerical, but I am not sure. I will give you guys the information on the pistol, and would appreciate any information that you could give to me. it has the b.u g and 118.35 and a s and 41208 on the barrel On the top of the gun is scrolled DWM ..it is a 9mm the frame has a serieal nr 1 and no markings anywhere it has a wood grip and stock lug no grip safety is it a parts gun ? If anyone can help, it would be great. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/img_0871_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/img_0882_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/img_0874.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/img_0876_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/img_0888.jpg |

muccax, Your left grip is cut for a grip safety. A left side view of frame with the grip removed would help to determine whether your mismatched frame is from a M1906 or 1908. The number under the barrel, could be for either model. Also a shot of the top of the receiver would be helpful. TH

PS: The stock lug was not added to most PO8 frames until DEc 1913. TH

Frame never was for a grip safety luger and with stock lug would date to 1914 or after, but the 1914 commericals did not begin until about serial #75xxx. TH

Tom,
FYI 1914 Commercials begin mid-71xxx. Doesn't alter your point, though. --Dwight |
