Default Help with value of 1939 "42" Luger?

New pictures are at:

http://s730.photobucket.com/albums/w...cts/?start=all

I can not figure out how to re-size and then post pictures to the forum and still show a quality picture.

First time poster to this great site. I can't believe how knowledgeable and helpful the members here are!

I inherited this Luger from my dad when he died 20 years ago. It has been in a locked case for the past 60 (or so) years. I have never fired it, and don't think dad did.

ser # 3417 suffix "r" (I think)
All serial #'s match including one mag, 2nd mag has different #

Stamped on right side with #63 with eagle(?)times 2. Eagle(?) stamped on barrel.

I have not dis-assembled this gun(don't want to damage anything, I see from other posts that the grips are prone to breakage when removed) I am assuming that all internal parts match ser #

Sorry for the quality of picts, these are the best ones I took.

Just looking for any information/advice and a valuation that you may want to share with me.

Thanks to all for reading my post!

Regards,

James from Ontario Canada

There are some good disassembly videos on youtube should you want to get it apart. It looks very nice. What are the complications of ownership in Canada?
Welcome!

Hi James, From what I can see in the photos, your gun looks very nice. It was made by Mauser in 1939, and the matching mag is a definite plus. We would need more and clearer photos to assess value. You mention a second magazine - is there a holster as well? Regards, Norm

Hi Norm!
There is no holster. I will try to scan the forums for tips for taking and posting better pictures. I notice that the picts I posted make the grips look black/dark purple. The grips are a standard brown wood finish.
