Latest "re-build" project - A 1906 type frame based shooter
I recently acquired a batch of "parts" included were three frames and an upper, and a few other parts.
Not being able to leave parts "un-assembled"; I had to build the frame into a shootable luger. The 1906 type frame uses a grip safety, thus requiring different parts from a P 08 re-build. Thanks to a friend, I was able to get a repaired grip safety and fit it, which was the "key" piece needed. Of course the left grip is special also, being cut out for the grip safety. I decided to build the '06 in 9mm rather than the usually encountered 7,65mm. I really wanted a 9mm "fat barrel" but so far have not been able to find one. I've researched the frame and as best I can discern it is from the Brazilian(Thanks Ron) contract; could be wrong - but with the features and a serial number of 183 it was the only combination that fit. The frame and saftey are in the original "Up safe" configuration. Test fired last week, just fine; but I still need a hold open to complete the build. Frame was "in the white" and bead blasted to begin with; as you can see in the earlier pictures. Later I blued it as you can see.

Doesn't look too bad with a blued upper and frame still in the white. Great work, always happy to see another Luger brought back.

Really good work Don
Do you do real bluing? If so, I should ask that the 'baby' look the same and send you an upper Ed |

Ed,
It is not "real" bluing; but Van's Blue- best instant or cold blue I've found. Sometimes one can't tell the difference. But it is real "strawing"!

Don,
A Bolivian contract Luger is a 1908 pattern without grip safety. The frame is probably Brazilian.

The Brazilian contract fits the 3 digit serial number of the frame and other characteristics; Bolivia is an error.

Well, Don, you kind of recreated a Portuguese Navy contract(1906 frame 9mm 4" barrel). Now you only need to fake, either the "Crown & Anchor" or the "R.P. & Anchor, both being scarce varieties.

Kurusu, adding markings is a "no-no" in my book = fake. But you are correct, pretty much a Portuguese style.

I knew You were joking, no offense intended;
but some folks seem to think it is ok.

Yes, the M2 is also a good possibility. I had South America stuck in my head and didn't consider Portugal

Thanks guys,
I'm sure it is which ever one is more valuable! Perhaps some day I'll "find" a Portuguese or Brazilian receiver; then we will know for sure.
