IMHO, there are more "faked' lugers out there because the average dealer knows nothing about them and misdescribes them. I also belive that more lugers are damaged by Americans than Germans. Most Americans don;t know how to disassemble them and use a screw driver or some other kind of force on the take-down lever. They also don't know how to reassemble them. Most fakes are so poorly done that they are apparent to almost any informed buyer. However most buyers never seem to inform themselves. My rule, unless you can hold it in your hand "Don't buy it"

Ok, My shooter is on the way, mis-match 1918/1920 double date ERFURT.
Now question on ammo, is it okay to shoot cheap Russian ammo, or WAL-MART winchester bulk pack ammo out of this LUGER? thanks, |

Winchester White Box would be infinitely more recommended than any Russian ammo, especially steel cased.

The 124 grain tends to hit closer to point of aim at 25 yard and less ranges. I own a couple of Lugers that will eat any bullet configuration you feed through them and others that simply will not. It will be the luck of the draw.
(I would not recommend carrying the gun for self defense, if this is the intent. I would opt for a modern handgun offering). |

yeah, sorry i didn't want to make it sound like i was gonna use it for self defense or any of the sort. I was looking for a range gun, but it sure is nice to know that LUGER world eat them just the same.
I have Glock 17 and Springfield XDM for self defense purpose. Oh finally before i forget, anything wrong with shooting BLAZER Aluminum case ammo? |

No problem with Blazer. At the end of the day, the gun will tell you what it likes. Just avoid steel case, +P or +P+ ammo.

I tried a few Wolf(steel cased) 115gr FMJ ammo in two of my Lugers just because I have a lot of it. It was just a test, and it FAILED miserably in both guns!! I have had my best luck with PMC 115gr FMJ, but WWB and Federal Champion 115gr FMJ will run in my Mauser Parabellum.

I shoot a lot of WWB and it always seems to work well.

I get Wal-Mart winchester bulk whenever i can, but most of my ammo is wolf steel case, and Blazer ALUM stuff.
I will try it in my gun, but i guess i will save the wolf for my Glock. |

Just bought 4 boxes of .32acp Blazer for my self-defense Mauser Pocket 1934 (old gun, new role). Will try over this weekend.
