Hi Antonio,
That HK is probably worth more in Spain than it is over here as it is likely a Condor Legion gun. I'm sure your guess as to value would be better than mine.

The "side marked" Kreighoffs were nomally standard commerical DWM lugers marketed by KH during the Weimar era. I've never seen one with a KH marked toggle assy and a P prefix serial. TH

Gibsons book has much info on these " P codes " and they are also called " commercials " .

Star means it failed inspection and was rejected by the LwA2 inspector .

Not unheard of to see this side frame inscription .

Probably from 1938 or 1939 assy .

Antonio,

Your piece is a Krieghoff Side Frame Inscription made for the Commercial Market from rejected Luftwaffe production. The side frame inscription is a rarer sub-variation of the commercial production and is very collectible based on the limited photos..

It properly has the 5-pointed Luftwaffe rejection stamp as well as the Early Commercial proofs. This is correct.

Note: Inspection by the Luftwaffe was a go-no go process. Many parts were rejected but were totally usable. Additionally, the P.08 design was very susceptible to head space issues in production, again a gauge based go-no go process, resulting in many, many rejections. The fact that your gun has the Early Commercial proofs means that it meets the commercial standards of Germany at that time. It is a good and proper piece and has significant value. You made a good purchase. The side frame inscription gives it additional value as fewer of these were produced.

There is an entire section of Gibson's book that is dedicated to Commercial production as well as numerous threads and posts on this Forum for you to look at and get good, additional information.

Confirmed in Toms' video star does mean legit made for commercial use! I SENT THIS THREAD TO HIM! Kreighoff is top of the line! The wouldn't approve for sale a defective or substandard luger and market it for sale! They were very proud of their brand and protected it!

The star is a reject mark .
It does not mean it is a bad HK .
It means it did not pass inspection and was put with others that had issues .

After the 10,000 contract was filled these were fixed if possible and sold on the commercial market .

These generally bring more than common military contract ones as they are much less common .

This is all readily available info so why all this muddy water ???
