Hugh, I've seen this combination before in one of the luger books, but doubt that it is pratical with the scope being subect to so much recoil, mounted on the barrel. Th

Gives the phrase 'poke your eye out' a whole new meaning

Hello fellows,
This Luger Arty customization was made by W. Aulke in Germany around 1970.
In the attached photo a scan from a DWJ dated September 1971.
I guess it is interesting.
I hope this helps.
Ciao
Mauro

Hummm...no one else has commented on this, so I guess it's obvious to all except me.... Sorry if these are novice questions

It's stated in the description that this was a riflescope, one I'm not familiar with. I actually thought it was on backwards when I first looked, the pic is so dark. I would assume the eye relief on this scope would be such that the gun would probably be useable only with a shoulder stock? Maybe someone familiar with it could comment?

Also, should I know if this is a DWM, or is it a "mystery brand?"

I appreciate the info, tac. I got to thinking about this after I posted and decided the scope would probably be a "scout mount" type. Do you think it would work better with or without the stock on the LP-08?

When you wrote this, "and it is like looking up a mouse's fundament in use," I wondered if it were possible to look up one if it were "in use!" (Sorry, I just couldn't resist.)

I apologize for the wrong impression about the "DWM" reference. I knew what I meant, but didn't make it clear that I was asking about the pistol, not the scope.

Hi, tac. No, I'm not interested in buying it. I'm from the SDBOHG school of thought. I am interested in it, however, as an unusual object which may be practically difficult to use. (Just to avoid confusion, I'm speaking of the unit in its full glory, both scope and pistola. )

Sorry you got booted from the board.

BTW, I hope this transmission was more intelligible.

Tac,
Once again you have illuminated the obvious.

WOW!! For a minute there I thought that old Tacky might get booted. I would miss him if he did. I have found him amusing a number of times.

But aside from that, we have had scope mounted LP-08's on the forum a number of times and I think that the opinion was that the BATF in the USA did not appreciate them. We have also discussed other sights on Lugers in general and came to the conclusion that adjustible sights, even on Lugers used for competition, would not hold up. I think that there was a guy from Sweden that has some competitive Lugers on the Lugerforum pictures of members guns. Nice looking guns though.
