Post Artillery Luger

Gentlemen,

An old friend called today, his father recently died and his family had come across an artillery Luger with a stock that the old man (a WW2 vet) had tucked away. My friend hadn't seen the gun yet, but his family had told him that it was marked 1938. Were artillery Lugers being made as late as 1938? It may be headed my way if we can agree on a price. It is supposed to be all matching numbers and in very good condition.

Regards,

Balder

Edit note: Sorry, I just now realized that artillery Lugers have their own section. Administrators; feel free to move the posting if necessary.

Hello Balder,
The production of Imperial LP08 finished at the end of WWI. Mauser started again the production in the 1930 mainly for export (Stoeger).
In 1936, Mauser produced LP08 for Persian and Siam countries. The Siam model is marked 1936 on the chamber.
In the 1945, under French control, Mauser firm produced again a few LP08 (up to November 1947 when Mauser firm in Oberndorf was destroyed).
Note that the Siam and French models are the only one with the Mauser banner.
In the 1985-86, Mauser Werke located in Oberndorf started again the production of a few commemoratives models (250 in caliber 9mm and few in .30 Luger).
Therefore, there are not LP08 with 1938 on the chamber.
For further information about LP08 model, please have a look at my web site.
Ciao
Mauro

Thanks Mauro, I'll check out your website. I'll come back with more details after I've seen the gun.
