Post 1936 KRIEGHOFF SUHL

can someone let me know what i have here? i made some trades and wound up with the following luger.
on the toggle there is an ANCHOR with a "H" on the left and a "K" on the right. under the anchor it reads KRIEGHOFF SUHL. on the barrel, in front of the toggle reads the date, 1936. the SER.# is
62XX, on all parts of the weapon.
on the right side of the slide there are four stamped eagles and two of them have a very small
"2" under the eagles.
on the right side of the barrel, just in front of the slide is another stamped eagle.
the grips are brown plastic and the clip is aluminum, ser. # 68XX on the heel along with what looks like a the letter "a", a "+" and another EAGLE with a small "63" under that.
is there anything elso i should look for to help identify this luger?

does anyone have information on this weapon????
what value does it have ????
about when was it made????

thankyou

Pictures Jimmy, can you either scan it in, or take digital pictures? Front, sides, close ups, etc.

Kriegs are worth more than many Lugers, so it depends on how much you paid for it, condition, orginallity, pitting, re-blue etc.

There are lots of books on lugers, one specifically on Kriegs by Gibson. Also, there is a lot of information here under this very heading.

i know it's not easy but from what i described can you make a "guestimate" to the questions.
by the way the luger shows some holster ware but it is about 95% to the good. quite nice blueing actually.

thankyou

Hi Jimmy....

What sounds like you have is a "1936" Krieghoff (produced in "1936", as you probably guessed, too ). I'm going to make a "leap of faith" that all the internals are properly LWaA stamped as well (that small eagle with a "2" under it). However - you don't have what sounds like an HK magazine. It also appears that it's an HK for Military production (based on the proofs/acceptance marks you describe).

However, one small question first, before I go on with a "guesstimate" for you... On the bottom of the barrel, near the "slide" as you describe it - can you tell me what the marks/numbers are?

As reference, here is one of my Kreighoffs I presented to the Forum members a while back - so if you look at the pictures of this one (it's a different production year, but I haven't created a gallery for my "36", "1936", or "1937" HKs yet - but this one should be close enough for comparision) - you should be able to tell me what looks "the same" or may be different on yours (ALSO - if you read the DESCRIPTIONS of those photos, it will tell you what stamps/proofs you are looking at on your HK):

Best to you,

Jimmy and JOhn, sent each a PM. I was hoping you'd "show" up John!

Hi Jimmy,

The folks at Simpson LTD have several 1936 HK's for sale :

http://www.simpsonltd.com/LugerRoom/...off_lugers.htm

This will give you some idea as to current "retail" pricing ranges. But each gun's condition...that is...% of original finish and strawing, original HK proofed and numbered parts, condition of grips, etc...will ultimately establish its value.

An in-person appraisal of your gun by an independent luger expert (i.e. a person not buying or selling your piece) might be a way to go as well...one normally needs to pay for such an appraisal...

Too bad you cannot post photos...as many HK experts (especially John D.) are here on the Forum that could help you with an valuation as well...

Regards,

Pete...
