1900 american eagle w/8 inch barrel

Obtained a matching 1900 American eagle Luger, except for its barrel. The barrel is eight inches slim tapered , without markings, has a banded front sight with a german silver blade pinned in it. Anybody have any ideas on the piece. Finish is an overal 90% turning patina, bore is excellent, un-marked wood bottom magazine. I know pics are worth a thousand words will try and get some posted in the next couple days.

Several possibilities;

1. Later rebarrel
2. Came that way from DWM (they were letting you order almost anything back then)
3. Pacific Arms or the likes offered 8 inch barrels on new and used lugers

We'd need to see close up pictures (and good full left and right), see if there are any letters or numbers on the barrel

aS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE NO PROOFS OR NUMBER ON THE BARREL THE REST OF THE PISTOL IS MATCHING #S. i COULD USE A ESTIMATE OF VALUE IF ANYONE WANTS TO TAKE A SHOT IT.

I would say $1000-$1400 / I think most people will be put off by the non-traditional length and no numbers.

I think with a proper barrel and some restoration this would make a fine example of a 1900 AE. What do you think.

not sure why you'd want to restore it, it might have come from germany like this?

I'd love to see better photos of the front sight area. This is where the factory versus home gunsmith difference really shows.

As others have pointed out, there is no reason to assume that the barrel is "improper", and it certainly has been mounted on the gun for a very long time. I urge you to enjoy it as it is.

I like the way the finish looks myself and to change out the barrel will gain nothing value wise because it will be miss matched. more than likely(we hope),its original and would be correct. If your not a fan of the set up. you would be better off selling it, then just getting another eagle,in the config you want.

IMO, its worth more the way it is,then if it was refinished with a missmatched barrel.

Can't tell from the photos: Does it have an added stock lug to go with the extra long barrel?

I know how it is, but from photo 2, it appears the witness marks are aligned.

Lacking the markings which DWM placed on the barrels of every Parabellum they manufactured, this barrel cannot be considered proper.
