Smile WW1 German Officers Revolver.? Holster

Just recently.....I got some more WW1 postcards in for my German Card Collection.....and found this one amidst all the others.....it shows a WW1 German Officer with what appears to be a Large. Revolver ? Holster.......You guys take a look and see what you think......some of these old Postkartes...when enlarged ...are very fascinating.....Hope to post more of them later on if anyone is interested......Enjoy....Hans Fischer

The man in the photo is not an officer. He is an enlisted man.

Hans, very many Imperial German enlisted men were issued pistols. What it is is a mystery, it could be a revolver or it may even be a Belgian or other allied automatic or revolver.

Although the background is outdoor, this may also be a "studio" shot. Studio photographers often had props on hand to enhance the photo. Things like a holster to wear.

I agree. The only surviving pic I have of my active duty military is a studio shot, with a rifle [M-16] that I had never even seen before...

(A real one...in person, I mean)
