Question Need opinions on purchase. Quick!

Vendor at the local gun show has a 1908 Commercial for sale. Condition is 95%+ on blue and 80% straw. Bore is frosted, but rifleing is visable. Serial number is in the 65000 range, no stock lug, but does have hold open. All matching including a decent Commercial holster with punch and take down tool, missing cleaning rod. Comes with a FXO Bakelite bottom mag and a East German 2/1001 marked Hanel type mag. Seller is asking $1050. It seems like a fair deal, but just want others input.

If that is 95%+ original blue (assuming just wear, no pits and VERY little external "frost"), you have found a real good buy, particularly with a decent commercial holster. The holdopen is correct. Proper magazines are not hard to come by. If it is a re-blue, negotiate for a lot less.

Thanks Ron, I am going to take a strong light tomorrow to check the finish. I was thinking that the FXO mag was worth $125 and the East German mag at $50, the holster and tools at $250+. That leaves the gun at $625. I just wasn't sure about the hold open, my other 1908 SN 59564 does not have one. Will post pics if I get it.

Good luck. I particularly would like to see the holster if you get it (but for gosh sakes don't let that influence your purchase!).
