Fredo,

Your gun is in very nice condition...cannot be sure if the finish is original or Bern reworked at the time of release/sale...as many Swiss lugers are Bern refinsihed, this does not seem to reduce a Swiss gun's value much..but original finish is alway the best to find.

I assume the condition of the barrel/bore is excellent as well.

Here in the USA, I would think your luger would be priced in the $ 1750.00 to $ 22500.00 USD price range...Dealer prices would be higher...

The value of your Luger in Europe and Switzerland would be lower than our USA pricing.

I am hoping other Luger Forum members would have other opinions about value/price...???

800CHF is amazingly cheap for any 06/24 in this condition (if all matching and not reblued). I'd say a fair price would be at least 50% higher in Switzerland.

Where did you get it?

Please confirm that at the end of your military obligation, that the Swiss government has presented to you, your fully functional STGW 57 assault rifle... If only all governments were this generous and pro-gun. I believe that you are subject to recall to active military service in the event of national emergency and would be expected to bring this gun back and use it... Am I correct?

Every swiss soldiers which have served the country up to the end of the obligation time (300 days for a soldier) arround 30-40 year old is released and won't be part of reserve. If this soldier can proove he has made all the mandatory shooting exercices till the this date, the country will mark is gun with a "P" and give it to him, that's what happened to me 2 months ago. The only restriction is that my STGW 57 has been modifiy to avoid full auto mode, but I can still shoot in semi-auto. For those like me how were a "little nut" on weapons, I was a gun mechanics in the moutain troops, there is possibility to keep an STG90 full-auto for keeping practicing military or private shooting, thx to the defense dpt........
hope it will make it a little easier to understand for you guys
PS: This means also that all guns or riffle marked with this "P" are ex-military weapons given to their older at the end of his service. If you find militry versions of swiss guns without it, it may have being stollen or refurbished.
