New arrival
Thought I would share some pictures of the latest arrival....1915...matched mag...matched stock iron fixture...homemade shoulder stock...holster flap stamped "Maury & Co"...slight freckling on gun.....impressive smoothness and functioning of mechanism...quality definitely superior to later war production...this gun was brought back from ww1 and was used at times to hunt deer(don't ask!!!)....I'll use it for paper targets....Peter..

Nice photos of a great gun Lugercollector... Has it been reblued? The side plate seems to have VERY little wear on it and it seems to be a fine specimen.
I tried to recover your third photo, but it doesn't seem to exist on the server... could you please repost it so we can see it too? thanks,

Peter,
Thanks for the last close-up photo. I have read about the fine-tuned, rear sight on the LP-08's, but have not yet had a chance to see one in person... Regards, Pete... |

Nice gun, mismatch or no mismatch,
Who is the maker, DWM or Erfurt. Regards Murray.

I'll bet it is a DWM. Not enough proof marks for an Erfurt!

Yes....it is a DWM....it looks better in the photos than it does in daylight....it was used as a hunting rifle substitute...wet weather doesn't help the bluing stay blue....if anyone wants me to post a close up photo of any part of the gun...let me know....Peter....

It would be my preference and request that you open a Member Gallery album and post closeups of ALL the parts!
thanks!

Wm. Pete Ebbink refers to the fine tune rear sight, that's the little round bit with two holes? Is this not common to all artillery guns?

Mark,
I think the early LP-08's came with fine-tuned front and rear sights, but some came with fine-tuned front sights and fixed rear sights. Then around 1917, I recall reading, the fine tuned feature was phased out with fixed front and rear sights in later 1917 and most of 1918... Other Forum members may have more precise info. Regards, Pete... |
