Affordable 1900?

Been on a hunt for a affordable 1900 Eagle for some time now. Condition was not as important as just having another 1900. Still having some sellers remorse from selling my 1900 test that Thor restored for me. At least I know another forum member has it. Came across this 1900 today. Quite rough I know, but if I can get it for maybe a tad higher than $1,000 I'll give it a go. So outside it's poor condition, is there anything to see that best advice me not to bid on it? Thanks

I don't see any problems. Would like to see the degree of pitting on the barrel, but overall it looks honest.

Looks like a gopher gun to me, i.e. "go fer it"! Wouldn't go much more than your stated "tad" over $1K given the condition, but on the other hand the 1900 is a classic so let your good sense compete with your wallet.

Probably not stone cold mint, but still in good shape, it seems correct and likely original, at that price go for it.

Guess I'll pass on this one, I bid on it but was out bid at $1,1,00. There is a much nicer 1900 with a buy it now price of $1,695. Outside my budget, but tempted to break the bank.

The second pistol is a 1906, not a 1900.

I have a very worn M1900 that I got a few years back for $1,200. Refinished probably several times, you can barely see the American Eagle but all matching and functions just fine. I have been looking in a somewhat lazy manner for a nicer one at a good price ever since I got the worn one. I have bid low on a few but always lost, which is just fine with me as I am in no hurry. In a few years of looking I don't recall seeing any Model 1900 in functional conditon for less than about $1,200-$1.400.

I'd rate the condition of the Legacy pistol linked to in post #1 as fair, not poor. If I was in the market for a Model 1900 in that condition, I personally would view up to around $1,200-$1,400 as not unreasonable.

The thing about Model 1900s is, for me at least, the lines of the pistol are so elegant that even fair or poor surface finish examples look great.

It needed it. The Eagle was very poor due to buffing. When returned the Eagle was perfect !! You most likely have pictures of it in your before and after file.

Sadly, I dont, I had a computer puke on me and lost a lot of photos. I did look in my FFL records and see where I DID send it to Brian, so he restored your Eagle.
