I can't see any checkering. Looks like the ribbed Russian or East German replacements to me. I think you observed the same thing and your comment is a bit tongue-in-cheek. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Hello Ron,

I would have used an icon but we do not have one with "tongue in cheek".

The backside of these grips did not look correct, either. A little pricey at $ 150.00, wouldn't you say...?

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

I think John D. would snap these right up!!

They are post war USSR plastic grips. The pair may be worth $25 or so. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> I hope no one gets taken!!!!

Sheeshhh - and I got SOOO EXCITED by seeing a new HK thread...

But, Frank & Ron are right - that those grips sure aren't HK grips - 'less they were made on a Monday AM, after a LOOOOONG weekend at "Octoberfest"

I sent a note to the seller telling them that they are inexpensive Russian replacement grips that they used on captured German Lugers..not Kreighoff...

I also advised that they are worth about $20 on today's market. We shall see if the auction ad changes or gets relisted...

I can't tell from the picture for sure...are they black or brown? I am certainly not HK knowledgable, but they look like Ritzmann (sp?) to me.

Ron, Didn't the Ritzman(SP?) grips have writing on the back? If these turn out to be original I need a pair...I have an S code Krieghoff without any grips. Probably should have the wood not the plastic but all I ever see are the plastic Krieg grips. Jerry Burney

Beats me, Jerry. I was kind of going by what appears to be the brown color and what looks like authentic good quality. HKs are about 30 years too "new" for me to know the fine details! I had an eary S code once upon a time with wood grips. Kinda wish I still had it, but it went as part trade for a 1906 Bulgarian, which is ever so much more interesting. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Here are a pair of brown Krieghoff grips Randy Bessler has for sale for $250.

Ron, Thanks...I was kinda hoping to get by for a little less than what Randy is asking. I am certainly not in any hurry as I know they are available in this, what I consider to be high, price range. Maybe I will get lucky somewhere...Thanks my Friend, Jerry Burney

Hello Ron & Jerry,

I think these are the later brown, coarse checkered grips HK used on lugers after they stopped using the Ritzmann grips...(going from memory, around the late S-codes and in 1936-37...).

It is also rumored that these brown coarse grips were made by the same supplier as the Black Widow grips Mauser started using later...think this is mentioned in the R. Gibson book, but I cannot check since I am away from my books for the next 1-2 days...

I have reposted my photos of the Ritzmann grips below :

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />
