Welcome to the Lugerforum Jim. There is a tutorial on how to post your photos in a message located at the top of the Site Help and Feedback forum that should enable you to post your photos. If you have any problems, just let us know here and we can help.

The S/42 indicates that your gun was produced by Mauser in 1937. That was a transitional year for the finish. In the early part of the year, the guns had the small parts "strawed" or yellow in color... as the year progressed they switched to bluing the entire gun including the small parts.

Is the 'K' that you mention the script character under the serial number in front of the trigger guard on the frame? or is it located somewhere else? and the gothic 'S' is located exactly where on the gun?...on the sideplate above the trigger? or somewhere else?

Do all the small parts of the gun contain the last two digits of the serial number?

How much original finish remains?

Do you think the gun may have been refinished during it's lifetime? this would lower the value considerably if that is true.

We look forward to the photos...
