are the markings bogus or everything? I thought they looked pretty good but dont have any to compare them to. I dont even know if some mauser replacement grips were marked byf. Ive seen some stamped 42. Could use an edcuation here. Help!

byf is a manufacture code and 42 is an acceptance stamp. The byf replaces the manufactures name, which is only on the toggle.

The grip may be original, but the marking certainly is not.
