Just don't tell them that it is matched, but that it is the same date of manufacture. The concept has it's origins in the fact that the 98% Luger in a 98% holster of the same date will always be worth more than a 98% Luger in a 98% holster made several years later. You just know that there is no chance that the two with the dates differing by several years came together originally, but with the holster and pistol having the same date the likelyhood is much greater. To take it back a little further, a K Date Luger in a 1934 dated holster would be worth much more than the same K Date in a 1941 dated holster. The value would be much more than just the difference in the holsters by themselves. You just know that there was no chance that they originally came together. If the K Date in the 1941 holster had an E/135 tool, you would again know that it did not originally come with the pistol.

I don"t believe this would be the case for a 42 BYF rig due to the fact a 42 holster is more scarce than any holster made from l937 to 1942.
