Default Need your expertice

Have a 9MM luger-P08-bfy-top front of action stamped 42-onright front of action are 3 eagles last 2 have 135 stamped under. all matching #s including wood grips and wood clip. Serial # 7180. Blue is maybe 20% wear. No rust. Good rifleing.
Could any of you give me an idea of its value, and not to sound like dumb, dumb what does bfy stand for? Gun collecter, mostly shot guns. Thanks for your help John

Hi,

The short quick answer: Mauser, made in 1942. byf was the 3-letter ordnance code assigned to mauser in those days. It's a military contract version, the P08.

Put up some pictures so that we can see the gun. But the matching numbered wood magazine is a red flag as they were not wooden during that period, at least to the best of my knowledge. Maybe alum. or even bakelite not numbered to the gun in 1942?
What's it worth? Whatever you can sell it for in a really tough market. It should sell for $1000 easily, but $1250 might take a bit longer. Depends on lots of variables.
Check completed searches on GunBroker to determine what it is worth. Then check Simpsons Ltd. to see the blue sky price.
