Reworked Lugers

Earlier this year I purchased a very historic luger which I initually believe was a rework. I was corrected below and posted its accurate history as provided me by George Anderson from whom I purchased it in its entirety~~Eric

What are you basing the assumption that it was a "rework"? The 1920 marking? If so, I'm under the assumption (illusion?) that the 1920 marking as simply an identifier showing that it was gov't. property, not necessarily a re-worked or rebuilt gun.
Definitely an interesting with an interesting story to tell.

That makes more sence! All parts match! Its amazing it survived 3 seperate periods, Imperial, Weimer and early Nazi! Thanks for the clarification! ~~~ Eric

I purchased this gun from George Anderson who wrote: In 1920 or soon thereafter a Weimer era government property stamp "1920" was added to the chamber in order to peclude subsequent theft during the tumultuous early years of the Weimer Republic. At some point during the Weimer era the pistol was put in service by the Reichsmarine (Weimer Navy). In the late Weimer era or early Nazi era (Kriegsmarine) the rear pistol grip strap was stamped with a Naval property number is stamped 1649N. The "N" indicates the pistol as having been assigned to the German Nordsee Flotte (North Sea Fleet) which was headquatered in the port city of Wilhelmshaven. The pistol also has many Erfurt acceptance stamps including even the grip screws. This practice was minimalized in later year production. Early Erfurt magazines up till 1916 will have two inspection acceptance stamps in the wood base. The walnet grips are stamped with inspection acceptance marks and the last two digits of the serial number. This pistol has an excellant bore. George Anderson.

"Included with pistol is an is an Imperial German manufactured shoulder stock for the LP08 serial numbered 3832l it has a Crown over military acceptance stamp in the wood as well as a "1920" Weimer property stamp indicating later use during the Weimer era. The stock is rigged with a 1918 Munich manufactured LP08 holster and reproduction attaching leather made by Jerry Burney." George Anderson~~

Jan posts two in his Weimer and Early Nazi Lugers however there both DWM. No Erfurts are recorded!
