Default A Luger - Pedigree or Mutt

Here is a small challenge for a Luger buff. I recently acquired an imported Luger - very nice shooter - but not a pedigree, It carries the scars of various stampings and over stamps. Who out there can trace the life of this Luger.

Just for starters, the barrel does not appear to be original, the sideplate has been restamped, the double date was common in post WWI Lugers that were converted into military or police pistols. It appears that it was dip blued as is common for imports. Some places charge a little more for all matching but that doesn't mean that they have a separate pile of original, all matched Lugers lying around. It means that they will change out or stamp them to match. Interestingly, the receiver was probably a 1920 double date DWM that was originally made up of parts after the war. They were often issued to German Army and police units. There is a reference to these double dates on pp.176-177 in Kenyon's 'Lugers at Random'.

Great pictures what type of camera and software are you using. I am considering buying one.

Thanks
