Import Luger question
The seller states this is a Russian capture Luger but the finish appears original to me. What do you guys think?

capture dipped finish
These photos in the auction look to me that the gun has received some quick buffing and was dip blued by the Russians. ... The overall condition looks pretty good, but the "original" collectible value is gone. Many including myself believe that these Russian and East German captures will be a class unto themselves and will ultimately increase in value.

John,
I have a dipped Luger and the finish has a duller appearance than the one in the auction. Notice also that the safety is still in the white. I'm also surprised that most of the parts match. What are reworked Lugers typically selling for? Matt |

not all the imported guns were "dipped". Those were the russian ones, plus sometimes the dip comes off, leaving the original finish behind.
The East germans sometimes redid theirs and sometimes didn't. Ed
