"One of a kind P08"
Gruss Gott,alle!
I've hesitated in making this post for a while because I'm aware many on this forum consider the new stainless Lugers by Aimco not to be "real".In spite of this,I feel a need to say "Thank you" to all who have directly or indirectly helped transform a dream into reality. Through the dedicated hard work of Gary and Colleen Reeder (Listed in the links & resources section),I am now the grateful owner of a true "one of a kind" Pistole Parabellum! I wanted to have them engrave one of the stainless pistols for in honor of my late wife.I merely asked that instead of putting my name on it,could they please incoporate her initials somewhere in the design.Gary asked me if I might like to take it a step further since my intentions were of a special nature. He went the extra 1,000 miles to contact a friend who works with Aimco and arranged to have a P08 made with her name as the serial#.He wasn't sure he could do it,but he'd try.He was successful! The gun is engraved throughout(even the safety blade has a ceremonial feather fan on it- my girl was of the "native American" persuasion).Even with all the extra work on his part,he still remembered my original request. He put her initials on the rear of the frame in beautiful script letters just below the point where the rear toggle comes to rest on hold open.He and his people created a treasured tribute to the woman I still love dearly! I apologize for my long-windedness,but I had to say "Thank You!!!!" to each and every one of you who helped make this possible.Especially to those of you whose dedication and hard work maintain this Forum.Without your assitance this dream would almost certainly have remained just that,a fantasy. Once again,my grateful thanks!! Tschuss! Mark M. |

Mark, I've never met you nor your lady. Nonetheless, I was moved by your comments. If possible, could you post a picture of her memorial, particularly the engraving of her name? Regardless, thank you. Ad.

Mark I know how you feel I lost my wife April 12,2001. I think you have made a real tribute to her sounds like a fantastic weapon as well as a fantastic LADY. Your Luger is as good as it gets and beats any of the high dollar collectables. It truly is one of a kind.

Re: "One of a kind P08"
Mark, I´d very much like to correct a misunderstanding. There´s been a long history of attempts to cash in on the Luger Parabellum since WWII. Even Mauser did it´s best with the "Commemorative" series. None of these attempts have come anywhere near to what Luger enthusiasts expected. The present Aimco is a particularly brave initiative by the manufacturers to make a modern Luger out of modern materials, using state of the art manufacturing techniques. I made the same mistake myself as I had, until then, only seen older, cheaply made copies. A gunsmith here showed me one of the first AIMCO stainless Lugers to be imported here and we took it to the range to shoot. This is the first U.S. Parabellum I have seen that has earned it´s place in the Luger tradition. Without the AIMCO, we couldn´t truly state that the Luger has had the longest production run of any other hand gun - over 100 years! Patrick

Re: P.S. "One of a kind P08"
Mark - the reason I started off on the previous MS was to congratulate you on your very special Parabellum - which I completely forgot to do! It would be a great contribution to have some detailed pictures on the Board. Patrick

Re: When do we get to see some detailed photos Mark!
Gruss Gott,Kinder!
I would love to be able to post some pictures, but unfortunately I don't have the neccesary equipment.I no longer even own a cheap camera.I had no further use for it after I lost the only real reason for taking snapshots. I'll see if a friend might be able to take some photos for me,but I fear his equipment will come up lacking with regard to the needed resolution.I also have no scanning capability with my primitive setup.I'll see if he can and will help me out. Thank you all for your expressions of support.I wasn't sure how my actions would be received. This pistol is truly special to me! Be well, everyone! Tschuss! Mark M. |
