Post Upcoming Las Vegas Gun Show...

The next Las Vegas gun show is coming up towards the end of October 2003. Here is their web site link for info :

http://www.antiquearmsshow.com/Events/events.html

The Riviera Hotel (where the show is held...) is pretty old. Circus-Circus is just across the street and they have recently remodeled their West Tower. Rooms can usually be had for $ 39-$44/night if one buys way in advance. They also run a airport-hotel shuttle for folks flying in so you do not need to rent a car.

As the event approaches, I will post again to see if we have a Luger Forum "group" planning to attend...if enough folks are coming, we might organize a "social"...

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Pete, look for a first issue or 1910 DWM military for me. I'll be with you in spirit. Good hunting.

Hello Lloyd,

Sorry we will not cross paths this time. I will only be able to sneak away from work on Thursday. Hope you can join us, again, at the November Reno show and for the Friday night dinner !

Hello Doc,

How much of your money are you allowing me to spend in case I see a luger for you...? Seriously, if I see an early DWM P-08, I will call you on your cellular phone.

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

I will be set up at the show with two tables. I am bringing some fantastic imperial items. I look forward to meeting the forum members.

Regards, Mike

Just returned from the Las vegas gun show (only attended on the first public day, Thursday...).

Mike Jone's family did have some nice Imperial items on display.

The show had roughly 30-45 or so lugers...with the largest sampling from Ralph Shattuck and Wally Morishige. Most interesting gun Ralph had on display was an early 1900, serial # 26 with "GL" on the rear toggle.

Mike Krause was displaying one of his very nicely produced Baby Lugers in a presentation case in .32 ACP and even allowed me to handle it...

The folks at Greg Martin's auction had 5-6 lugers on display which included a decent carbine with a non-matched stock, a 1916 DWM artillery with an Erfurt proof both on the barrel and on the right-side of the receiver (which I suspect was a gunsmith made-up artillery), and a decent, honest 1937 HK luger in the # 83xx serial range (but this one had some "freckling" which may clean up...). Greg Martin was at the show in person.

I left my gun money home and was hunting luger leather on this trip...did see a very decent A-F 1906 commercial hoslter for an asking of over $ 1000.00. This one is as nice as the one posted by Doc Fisher in the Member's Gallery but Doc's is not A-F stamped. If this one does not sell at the Las Vegas show, it will be for sale at the Reno show in 2 weeks...

There was also a nice 8" HH Heiser holster (model # 435) for an Artillery luger with an asking of $ 600.00. There was a slight water-stain about the size of a 50 cent piece on the front of this HHH holster near the trigger guard location.

Thirdly, there was a "fair" Vicker's Dutch holster that was intact except missing a small flap over the cleaning tool pouch. Some wear around the edges of the holster as well. Asking price was $ 400.00.

I passed on all three but did note the seller's names if folks on the LF are interested in these holsters. Send me an email at "pebbink@pacbell.net".

Most decent WWI and WWII 4" luger holsters were priced in the $200 and $ 300 range.

This Las Vegas show was smaller that the big January show. Not as many ballrooms were used this time. I did hear that lots of lugers traded hands on the dealer-day, Wednesday...and suspect many lugers were stowed under folks tables...

Did see a Norwegian fellow go around with a large grouping of luger parts (150-200 or so...) that did get purchased by the end of Thursday...the story was these parts came in from Norway recently...being left behind years ago by the German forces...

I also ran across a fellow named Michael Zomber who has appeared on the History Channel's "Tales of the Gun"...

Overall, a nice show...especially so since I had a client bring me into town and pay for my airfare...!

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Ron, if you can scan it in with a scanner, that will work. Borrow a digital camera? Take good pictures of it and send them to me, I will scan them in for you, or assist in posting pictures.

Give us a complete run-down of the gun, markings, caliber, etc.

I just returned to FL from Charlotte. Ronald is on the money! The show was really something, mostly collectable stuff for everyone-civil war on up, the most lugers I have ever seen at one time! To me, they were pricey. I came home empty handed - Hey, my wife is happy! I will go again!
