I have seen each of these Lugers as individual pictures, but never in one "lump". Thought it might be fun to try. I will work on trying to improve the quality, but here is a preview.

Yes - I've been honored to see some of these in person - but WOW..!!! What a terrific picture, Ron..!!!! Makes me want to try something similiar with my collection - a "family photo", of sorts... Unfortunately - any photo just can't your collection justice - your "family" of Lugers is just outstanding..!!!

If my eyes don't deceive me, luger #5 (1907) appears to be the late Sidney Aberman's one of a kind $1,000,000 45 caliber GL monogramed original test luger!!!!! Am I right?

I wish! It is an exact hand-made copy of Sid's Luger built by Mike Krause (Mike had the original 45 caliber on loan to use as a pattern). Still expensive but a lot less than $1,000,000!

This picture is fabulous. Its gotta go in the Owners Corner somehow. Keep the picture where we can see it forever. Ron has set the top bar for show and tell. I just wish that Ron would have put the dates in the picture. Then again, maybe not.But its great anyway. I would like to hear the story on how he took the picture. Putting seven trophies in one picture must have taken some work.

Per your request Norm. I should have done this with the first picture, just forgot. The story of how these seven got together in one picture isn't very fancy. Just 45 years of collecting and then laying them out on a table. Thor observed that it would take "deep pockets" to "adopt" this family. He is correct, if you tried to buy them all at once today. I definately do not have deep pockets, but I kept working at it all those years, trading and buying what I could. It is a great hobby, and I hope the young guys and gals just starting to collect Lugers will realize that if you stick to it, you can put together something you can be proud of.

For permanent display in the Forum Owner's Corner... but I need Ron to meet the requirement of opening a Forum User Profile before I can accomodate that...

Ron, please take a few minutes to do so, and then find the time to do a short paragraph about each pistol. Certainly you will want to do a closeup of each of these for your Owner's Corner display.

I would make a personal request that you do a complete closeup photo layout on the 1907 as photographs of any of Mr. Krause's work are almost as rare as the pistols themselves...

Ron,

You are so right in that it takes so long to put together a nice collection. I have been trying to put together a collection of artilleries and navies for about 12 years now. Deep pockets is something I understand. I find a nice gun to fill in my set and another month or so later I find a better one at a good price and I buy it. Now I got a spare. Before I know it, I have a respectable set and a bunch of spares.

One of these days I am going to break down and buy a good camera and try to go for the gold and top you. Its going to be tough. You set the bar kinda high.

Not meaning to sound petty about your fine collection, but isn't the 45 cal really a 1906. I am also going though my books to determine what a 1902 and a 1903 is. I have always just grouped them as 1900's. I have a couple of nice ones but I always just thought that all but one are spares. Maybe I am wrong.
