Default code 1939

hi, this morning i've been shooting in my club with my new luger (pics will follow). it is a 1939 S/42 s/n 5787n. my friend had also his luger there. it is also a 1939, s/n 5889q. but he has only the code 42 without the S on the toggle. in which area had the code been changed?

Hi,

The "q" block was a tranition block in which you can find both 1939 S/42's and 1939 code 42's. For instance you could have 5888q being a (S/42) and 5889q being a (42), and both would be perfectly correct. I have 4205q and it is one of the earlist 1939/42's. Just a transition period from the S/42 to the 42 coded toggles.
