OT Nambu stripped for parts

On e-bay right now there is a gun selling Nambu aprts, he says, oh what a shame to take a matching gun apart and sell it...

That is amazing, make more money as parts, so strip it down?

I've noticed that Luger parts go for more on e-bay than if you order parts, I can see if you wanted a certain # magazine or something, but I wonder how many nice matched guns have been stripped?

This has been going on for several years that I know of!

This has a lot to do with it being much easier to sell parts than dealing with the Feds in selling firearms.

True, but you still have to track the Frames with standard Federal record keeping. Thor

It is truly a shame that the total of a stripped down pistol actually brings more money than a fully matched rig. If you figure what you can get for the two magazines, holster, grips, barrel, toggle, etc. it would have to be a minty rare variation to bring more 'all in one piece'. So, I guess if you have the time and energy and have a 'shooter' grade Luger you can upgrade it by auctioning off the parts and buying a mint all matching one with the proceeds. Somehow I don't think that the frames are a problem to market (legally or otherwise).

I know of several Police Depts that insist that all confiscated and turn-ins must be destroyed...but, they allow their armorer to strip the frames for parts. Then the frames are cut and the weapon certified as destroyed!

This is a 'cash cow' for the armorer, of course!

My Chief insisted that all numbered parts be destroyed but that left grips/mags/etc. They did [years ago] destroy a MINTY Luger Carbine, I am told. What a shame as it could have been sold and equipment purchased!
