Default Value of a matching clip??

About a month or two ago I submitted photos of my 9mm 1918-1920 DWM Luger all matching #3114 (90%) and also additional Berlin Police #'s WIR 378, SBWIR 378 and SB 5528. 5528 also appears on the tool and on the 1933 Franz Cobau holster. The wood bottom clip was dropped or hammered something and any number that was there, if any, is not readable, but it works great. (Thanks to Don for Police info and other help, also to ED Tinker for an estimate of value). My question is that I've found a aluminum bottom clip W43 #5528 on E-Bay. Would it be appropriate to add to this group? If so how much should I pay for it and not be crazy? Seller says button is buggered but clip works, aluminum has some dings and scratches but numbers OK. Again THANKS there is a great group on this forum and this old retired guy in Florida thanks you!!

suwanneetrader, here is an example... I bought one off of ebay that matched my simson 4004, yet wasn't a match, as it was obviously not the same "era", but I was willing to pay up to $150 for it. I got it for $135...

What does W43 mean?

Is it an army mag or a police mag, if a police, I'd be willing to pay a bit more and if the same, i.e. "maybe it was yours", even with a buggered button, I'd want it...

Ed: Typo as it looks more like S 42. I do not know how to tell if it is Army or Police. Only marks seem to be the S 42 or 43 and 5528. As my loading tool only has 5528 on it I thought the mag might fit in. It is on ebay now with about 3 days to go and I'm still high bidder. Hope I get it. Good to talk again Richard

Richard, an S42 is a replacement magazine... I'd want it, even just as a curiosity...

Richard, Since this later Mauser mag is not appropriate to your PO8 and doesn't match the gun, and is described as being in rough condition, I would avoid it. TH

I thank you for your help and opinions. I went to $156.55 + shipping, but someone named Larry got it, I finished 2nd. I just hope Don doesn't find out the Berlin Police Dept. had Mauser make some clips with the Department Inventory/Property numbers and this clip really does go with my Luger. That would just be my luck! Good trading and thanks again. Richard the old retired guy in Florida
