What do you reckon that this will fetch after all the shouting is over?

Hello Wes,

I paid $ 850 for mine 4 months ago; but mine was in 9 mm, NIB, and came in the factory box, with manual, 2 mags, cleaning rod, and loading tool. I would think this one should sell for less, especially since in .30 cal.

Also, mine was not purchased via auction, which seems to drive up prices for no logical reason... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

Pete,

I think that I will sit and watch this pistol for a few days. It appeared only yesterday and still has 6 days to run. If anyone from the forum decides to bid on this item, please feel free to do so, for I really have no designs on it. My only interest in it is as a shooter.

Is this example from Mauser's prototype run of 50 pistols? (Receiver sholders not rounded.) If so, does that add anything to the value?

Standard Swiss model of the 1970's production. I paid $500 for mine about two years ago. I would say it is at it's average price @ $650!

Not quite standard. The serial number is in the 40's. (The non-zero digits preceding the zeroes indicated caliber and model.) This and the non-rounded receiver shoulders place it in the prototype run of 50. Starting with the second run at #51 they rounded off the receiver shoulders as is standard on most Lugers. I have a magazine article claiming this was an oversight or oopsie on Mauser's part and they corrected it on the second run starting with #51. Whether or not this adds anything to the value is up for grabs.
