Hi esko, I think your .30 short is a great idea! I have some questions about the cartridge? At 29.5 mm loaded length, how much shorter is it then a standard .30 luger?

Do you think it is balistically close to the .30 luger, trajectory, velocity, etc?.... (the .308 is very close to the 30,06 for example), what is the barrel length? Can you form the case in one operation, or do you have to do it in progressive steps? Do you have to trim at all because of the forming? Have you tried lighter bullets? I am very interested in your results, as I love to shoot, but hate to hunt for brass! Thanks, till....later.....G.T.

AND.....using a little heavier cast bullet, say 100-110 gr bullet will help with recoil impetus and overall length of the loaded round! Thor

Hi

I have rebuilt a number of lugers, and mostly with heavyer oktagon barrels in order to get better balance.

We tried the 7,65x19 some years ago and discoverd a number of problems .

1. the cases often separated at the neck, leaving the neck in the chamber.

2. the preasure due to the low recoilimpulse with the low weight bullet had to be kept high in order to have the gun to cycle.

The preasure actually got that high that the fork on this DWM luger got bent downwards.

The 7,65x19 might work if you have a weak recoilspring and low barrelweigth, but i belives it's better to use 7,65 para or even better 9x19.

Default Hakan, Great Website !!!

Since you apply the "new" sights, I am sure the rear adjustable sight holds it's position after many firings. Have you history on the number of rounds before the need to realign the rear sight? I think your sight picture is exquisite. I am presently making my 1917 DWM sight picture similar, only with fixed sights. I'll post a photo when I finish.

I shoot very activly with my Luger with a Bomar sight on.

We have earlyer tried other sigths as well but as the togglemovement is really tough and fast all other sights have been shaken loose within a few hundreds rounds.

Well the Bomar works perfect.

Today we are silversolder them on, but I have orderd new reartoggles with the bomar base machined in one piece.

Its a strengtend toggle by the way machined in the worst toughest swedish toolsteel I could found.

And this way I hope to come over the problems with cracked toggles, wish is all to common on ALL lugers.

I have shoot tousands of rounds with my sight witouth having it to fall off.
