Default What do I have?

Hello all,

My father passed away and among his things I found a pistol. I have held on to it for ten years now, and have recently been bitten by the shooting bug, so I would like to know what I have. It looks just like a Luger, but I am a little unsure about the rest.

A few hours on the internet has uncoverd a little about it, it seems to be a blank gun. Here's the info on the side of the gun:

ERMA-WERKE Mod KGP 690, Kal 8mm K

How closely related is this to a real gun?

Can I buy a P08 barrel and magazine and make this thing work?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time,
Charles

We would need to see pictured, it sounds like a 380 acp copy of the Luger.

Welcome. To the forum

Bill, this is true. However, the KGP 690 is an 8mm blank-firing pistol. Probably fewer of these made than the KGP 68 or 68A were made. NIB, the latter are worth around $400-450, if the box is good and includes a nice manual, loading tool, extra mag, and Erma stick-pin. What the 690 is worth, well, that depends on the collector's niche it belongs in, demand, etc.; but I'd say it's at least scarce.

For a pic, see here: http://www.collectorfirearms.org/web...ms/li-1078.htm I think the asking price may be over-reaching a bit, but maybe not, since one of these would definitely be hard to come by.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't want to sell it, as it belonged to my father. I want to know what I can do with it. I would love to fire it!

Okay, I'm still trying to figure out how to post pictures......

How much is a erma werke kgp 69 worth?

Answer:

$1,000 and up depending on the condition of the pistol.

This pistol is a rarity because they were only produced for a short amount of time before they were re-branded.

In 1964 Erma began production of the EP-22, a blowback- operated .22 rimfire pistol that resembled the famous P-08 Luger Parabellum pistol. At least one online source indicates that production was discontinued in 1969, though Ian Hogg states it was in the early '70s. In any case, in 1968 Erma began production of the delayed-blowback KGP-68 in both .32 and .380 calibers. The U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968 required the addition of a magazine safety, and the new designation for the guns became KGP-68A. An updated version of the .22 was made with the designation KGP-69. Late production guns were designated KGP-22, KGP-32, and KGP-38. The KGP-68 was also rebranded as the Beeman MP-08. Erma-Werke went bankrupt in 1997.

BB listed a few models. 1st one is "MODEL LA 22", .22LR cal, $395. 2nd one is "ERMA KGP68A/BEEMAN MP-08", .32ACP or .380ACP cal, $450. The 3rd one is called "ERMA KGP69/BEEMAN P-08", .22LR caliber, value $335. That's retail number of 100% NIB condition.
