Default Newbie says "hello"

I just purchased a nice 7.65 1917 Luger and thought it would be fitting for me to join in here. Looks like a good group of folks. I have several Mauser 98K's and Yugo M48's,etc plus a rebuild SA MG42 in my collection so far. I have one question to start though. Where should I look for ammo for this gun? Thanks in advance!

.30 Luger does not grow on trees, so the local gun shop is probably out. Watch sites like gunbroker.com, maybe even run a daily search. There are several companies still making it, Fiochi included. Check the shooting and reloading sections here for more info.
Greetings!

Privi Partizan loads it too(PPU); it is a little hotter and longer- works best for me.

welcome

does it have a relined barrel? Or is it a 'germany' stamped that came to the USA?

Or simply rebarreled? As no military in WW1 were made in 7.65mm

Default Rebarreled

As I understand it, the gun was rebarreled (barrel made in Finland) and it is stamped "Germany". I think it's a commercial gun but maybe you can shed some light on that. I bought it on Gunbroker today so haven't received it yet. Here are some photos.

Re-barreled, former military, and--unfortunately--someone has buffed the bejeepers out of it before refinishing. It should be a great shooter, though...!

Just a helpful(hopefully) hint, use a plain background for pictures, please.
A busy background distracts from the evaluation.

Thanks. These are pics sent to me by the guy I bought it from (I haven't received it yet). I agree about the background.

Welcome John,

A number of us on this forum own and shoot 7.65 Para(30 luger) Lugers, and other handguns. It is a fun caliber to shoot, and is quite accurate. Some of us handload this caliber(and others), and that reduces the cost of shooting. Don't discard your spent brass, as there are those handloaders that can use it, unless you plan to only shoot a few rounds and be done with it.

Thanks Ruff. I don't figure to do a lot of shooting with it but I will hold on to the spent brass. Thanks.
