New baby and im not sure what i have

Like stated I just bought a "new" Luger and im not sure what I have, what year or where its from. I know its 9mm and all numbers match but the take down lever. On the back of the receiver and bottom of the barrel there is a small circle with a triangle inside (not well pictured) any help is greatly appreciated.

Portuguese Army contract 1909. So called M2. If barrel is original it's not 9mm but .30 Luger.

Around 3500 made.

I was thinking many of these were rebarrelled but I am far from an expert...

If they rebarrelled it then they took the time to put the same S/N on it as the receiver, which I would think still counts as number matching but not to sure. So I paid about 800 for it did I make a bad move?

No you did fine.
Are you certain that it is 9mm, or just assuming? The exterior profile in the photo looks .30 to me.
But regardless, $800 is a very reasonable price.
FYI, the M over the chamber has to do with the ruler of Portugal as the time. These have been discussed extensively in other posts.
Looks like it needs a thorough but careful cleaning.

You can check the size of the barrel easily from the muzzle...

These Lugers in original condition are sought after and somewhat valuable as collectibles.

If it's all matching and in original condition, most collectors would not fire it for fear of breaking a numbered part. One that is more rare would be collectible with a mis-numbered take down lever.

You bought this well below it's market price.

orignal barrel should have the porto proof on the underside. same mark as on the left side and the back.

I think you made a great buy. A Portuguese M2 Luger is on my Want List. Excellent start to a collection.

M2s were never rebarreled in Portuguese service. At least not to change the caliber.

The gun was not rebarreled since it has the matching serial number and the circled triangle acceptance mark.

Most likely it's .30 luger.

Edit. Can you post a picture with the safety lever engaged? It's a way to find out if it was refinished. The safety lever, the take down lever and the trigger should be originaly strawed but from your pictures I can't really tell.

So laugh at me if you must I can take it, but I read that you can use .32 acp rounds in a .30 luger....(it was on the internet so it must be true right lol). Again any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Nope! you can't use .32 acp rounds in a .30 Luger.

.32 acp is smaller and straight walled. .30 luger is a bottle neck cartridge.

You should be able to locate some 30 luger ammo. I will suggest that you purchase Fiocchi 93gr FMJ ammo. The JSP ammo does not work well at all in my Lugers......but does in other folks guns. Try ammoseek and other ammo locating links.
