Here is another oddball -- "Nazi" party in Thailand.
Unlike Europeans, historically, Asian countries did not suffer much from the rise of the Third Reich (although did suffer from the rise of Japan). Ironically, some countries even benefited from it. WWII damaged the colonial structures setup by British, French and Dutch in 19th century. Obviously, this type of party is not illegal in Thailand. Or, even fashionable? God knows. |

Heard that people in Ukraine (Garlicia?) initially welcome German coming to liberate them. Later found things going on not as expected

They aren't sticklers for detail. The "hakenkreuz" on the one girl's blouse and the sign on the stage set up are backward. I ditto the stupidity observation.

Nazism as a fashion statement? Oy! Somebody worked hard on the eagle stencil but lost interest on the "Nazi Germany" script.
Also note the odd juxtaposition of the modern German flag on the lapels! What exactly motivates these people? |

One problem I see is the growing generational gap.
Few Nazi enthusiasts have any real connection to the war or it's affects. They don't see past the "cool" look and "superior" everything else. My grandfathers and neighbors went to WW1 and my dad and his cohorts fought across Europe in WW2. I grew up with their stories and those of the homefolks. We weren't occupied or bombed, but were seriously affected by the effort. It amazes me to see reenactors from actual occupied countries strutting around in nazi garb. I had a couple vets grumble about my collection in the 60s. I had a big collection of original vet acquired stuff back then. When I got out of the service it simply disgusted me and I sold 99% of it. A couple years later prices skyrocketed. For instance I was happy to get $75 for a complete original officer's Stug wrap. |

Mike,
Don't confuse reenactors with Nazi simpathysers. I reenact WW2 GI 2nd. Infantry Division and I am also occasionally called upon to do German Fallschirmjager if not enough Germans show up at an event or public battle. Here in the US, at least, Nazi simpathysers are quickly drummed out of the hobby. An overwhelming majority of the guys I know who do German full time are quality people who have an interest in history, period weapons and the experience of reliving the period to the extent that it is possible. Many are vets. Many are fire and police. The guys who have the expensive toys, (vehicles, heavy machineguns or rare gear/equiptment) are doctors and lawyers. I know of several instances were nazi types showed up at events and were quickly escorted away. The hobby will not stand for it. We are simply telling a story, just like Clint Eastwood, Richard Burton, Harrison Ford, Christopher Plummer, Tom Selleck, Tom Cruise, and any other hollywood star who has worn a Nazi era uniform are.. On the other hand, who can blame the Thai kids when even prince Harry has had the bad taste to dress up as one for a party

If Hitler had a chance seeing this picture, will he commit suicide again?

I'd just like to use them as public sex slaves while they all wear (most) of their little uniform. A true BangKock babe.
It's an idiotic fad they will grow out of. Bunch of dumb beotches.

The biggest chapter was in N.Y.C. This is a part of the history which a lot people had already repressed.

The 45th. Infantry division wore this patch prior to WW2, as their lineage was the Southwest, they chose a Navajo good luck symbol, the swastika. They later renamed themselves the Thunderbird Division, to continue the navajo simbolism without the onus of the cross the nazis corrupted.....
